As part of our improvement series, here we look at what you should be putting your worth at, how much should you price your ever so important services at.
Generally, how much is asked for as down-payment for a web design project should depend on these factors:-
Nature of work you are doing
Are you a free-lancer or a part of a web design firm in surrey? the pricing dynamics are different for each of these as most organizations have formulated policies to deal with debt collection. For an individual, you may need to ask for at least 50% to get the customer to commit to the job.
There are two types of clients
The client that is a repeat customer or are they a one-off customer who only needs one product and won’t be heard from again? Generally, for repeat customers, who you have established some mode of work with, you can ask for as little as 25% on the first meeting. For one-time clients, you can ask from anywhere from 25-50%, depending on the amount of rapport you have set up with the client.
The number of deliverables expected
Most web design projects involve a singular deliverable. These ones require the designer to ask for at least 50% up front. For projects having more than one deliverable, it may be prudent to follow the natural sequence of the job. If for instance, the whole project is a composed of several interdependent components, the designer should pay attention to the milestones and collect his wages according to the areas of achievement to be reached.
In an ideal situation, where the client is a one-time client, the designer a free-lancer and the job a singular project, the designer ought to ask for 50% up front to ensure the client is committed to the task.
